Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - Angers
Starting out-Monday was one of the most hectic days here in Angers. Hence, I have not had time to update. It has pushed me back a while, so I apologize to those who read this regularly.
First, Monday started at 9, with the usual French comprehension class. It turns out enough people are unhappy at the unbalanced skill level in the class so I spoke up and informed the director of this program. He understood completely and is now making the intermediate class two separate sections. Intermediate beginner…and just intermediate. I feel a lot better knowing that things will be easier to understand and comprehend.
After French, I took a short lunch break but had to be back earlier to start hanging up our photos in the library for our exhibition tomorrow (Thursday). We have our opening at 5:30, complemented with wine and crackers! Anyways, after hanging the photos up in the library, I ran back to the photo lab to convert the power point presentation I made that exhibition additional work of each artist in the exhibition. This was a total of about 60 additional images. It wasn’t exactly a short process. Once converted, I ran back to the library to transfer the presentation to the computer stationed in the library so it will play during our opening. There are a total of 14 photographers in this showing. It is really difficult to get everybody on the same page. After the power point transfer was finished, my professor asked me to construct an announcement flyer promoting the exhibition that was to be hung around the campus and also in the library to introduce the photographers and their work. This required gathering an image from each person and placing them in one grid. This was not a short process either. I decided to make it later in the night and focus on editing my work to be displayed. Editing took me until around 6 and after, I went straight home and continued to do the same thing, edit. I edited a few photos of the excursions as promised, but primarily had to focus on images for the exhibition. After, at around 8, I started constructing the announcement flyer. I finished it around 11. It was difficult but I managed. Sarah made me two delicious egg/cheese crepes to keep me sane.
After, I went to bed.
Tuesday.
Final Cut Pro seminar #2, luckily this one had to be cut short because something came up for the instructor so we only went from 9-1. After, I grabbed some lunch with Marleigh and Sarah. I ordered a delicious calzone with egg, ham, cream sauce, spices with a pint. I was so exhausted from Monday still that I took a long nap, a four hour one. Woke up between 6-7, and started to edit more photos. I am being fried by all this editing, but it has to be done. Ended the night by making revisions to the flyer due to the professor’s request.
Bed.
Wednesday.
Today was a better day. Besides the rain putting a hindrance on any photo opportunity. Monday, Tuesday were also rainy. We have not been able to shoot any photos in Angers since last Thursday, it really is depressing in a way. There is so much to shoot, so little time, but impossible because of the weather. The rain will destroy digital cameras with ease. Sarah and I grabbed some coffee when we woke up. Good morning jolt. As we were in the cafe, we noticed the table of (I am assuming) students next to us, all ordered pints of beer. It was 8:45 in the morning. Is that normal? I guess it would fill you up, but I would be much to sleepy to do such.
French oral class-assigned a oral exam for next Wednesday. Three minutes talking about yourself, memorized in French. Shouldn’t be too bad.
At 2, we had a studio work day in photography. Aka- more editing. As of now, I feel I have a pretty strong collection of images to show for our first critique tomorrow at 2. If there is a way I can export all the images somewhere, I will post a link for all of you to see. But trust me, when I get back to the states, I will have much to show!
After class, we returned to the resisdence, relaxed for a little and went to a cafe to hang for a bit and relax some more.
Tomorrow-Sarah turns 21! Everyone wish her birthday wishes on her blog http://swelch.tumblr.com
I am taking her out to dinner and then to a bar after for a celebration drink. Nothing too crazy, just something to celebrate the moment. :)
Critique tomorrow. Exhibition tomorrow.
This weekend we are going to a cave to see the troglodytes. Should be a lot of fun. Next Monday we are going on top of a cathedral in the bell tower to overlook the town. Should make for more great photos. Next Wednesday we are going to the vineyards for wine tasting. It will be my first wine tasting session ever! I am pumped. I have become a much bigger fan of wine while in France. Go figure.
This is the end of the post. Back to more editing. I will post some photos to hold everyone over :)
Hope all is well for everyone back at home. Hope the weather is better there.
Thanks for all the comments. They are much appreciated. I look forward to them.
Dad-color is for losers.
Kidding, I’ll email you it in color :)
Until tomorrow (hopefully)
