Today started early, woke up at 8 and headed to French class shortly after. French is insanely difficult. I really wish, for the sake of reassurance, the professor would speak some English even if it is just to let us know we are on the right track. I understand the principal, but damn, at one point it got very difficult for the whole class, and all we could do was guess what the words might mean. She informed us she can speak, but she won’t in class. If we speak it, we owe her chocolate. She got her share of chocolate today.
I need to purchase a French dictionary.
Apres les cours, I went to the outdoor market with Marleigh and Sarah. I picked up a good supply of Apple juice, a canteloupe, the best strawberries I have ever tasted, and a baguette.
I dedicated the rest of the day to photographing the Old Town area of Angers, France. In this area, the architecture is very midieval and the streets still have cobblestone. I am considering making this a main area of focus for the documentary project. I cannot get over how well the culture is perserved in the city and yet, still widely used. A mixture of modern and past. Makes for interesting photos.
I sat in the old town city center today for about 40 minutes, letting people get used to my prescence. Things really happen when you give yourself time to work. A bride and groom happen to walk by in the alley way and I was able to snap a few shots off.
Things unfold with time.
The other picture I shot walking back from the market. A bus stopped to my right and I looked over and almost everyone was looking back at me. Took me by surprise by I snapped a shot of it. The French are so interesting.
Another day of class tomorrow. Bright and early again. More photos to come.
