Angers, France - 25.05.09

Today consisted of a lot of photo editing and photographing. There was no way I would be stuck inside all day in such a beautiful place like Angers. Half the day was spent editing and the other half exploring the nearby areas and the university area. The light was a little harsh at some points, but towards around 9:00, the light became soft and cast very nice shadows. In Angers, the sun sets at around 9:40 pm. Throws me off really bad. The days, on average, are a total of fifteen hours long.

French class in the morning at 9.
Going to the outdoor market aftewards to get some delicious fruit and juice and veggies. It beats the hell out of any farmers market I have ever been too. Delicious and not pricy at all. I have never had apple juice so fresh before.

I am struggling with being comfortable shooting portraits of people. One, the language barrier is difficult, especially in Angers, being it is on the coast and English is not as much as an emphasis as it is in Paris. Two, I get a whole different feeling approaching someone in another country. I haven’t quite acclimated completely yet and I think this is a main cause for me being shy when it comes to portrait.
I think with a few more days on my own, these things will gradually fix themselves.

More photos tomorrow. After the market stop, I am taking the rest of the day to shoot.
I am still shifting between ideas for my documentary project. So many things, so hard to narrow down.
Especially tough since we only have six weeks here. Angers is worth months.
It holds so many unique qualities.

I could go on, but it is late.
7 hour time difference between home and here.

I am now using my personal website to host photos from France. It is just now getting started so the image amount is relatively small. Much more when I get the time to update.
